I would love to see a DS reunion. But for me to be right it has to include the original lineup plus
Alan on keys, Guy Fletcher on keys and Chris on Saxaphone. How awesome would that be ?

Why not go for it all? I'd envision a three day DS festival with all the musos from beginning to end, a sort of progressive musical journey revisited in chronological order. Perhaps with variations of benchmark songs along the way as some have been performed so differently over the course of time. I'd want it to proceed into MK's solo work as well but if we were to hear every recording of the DS era I believe we'd need more than 3 days....

I think the most likely line up would be:

Vocals: Joan Rivers
Guitars: Ant & Dec
Keyboards: The Count off of Sesame Street
Bass: John McCain
Drums: Bagpuss
Percussion: Joop de Korte

Although actually - I'm not so sure about Joop de Korte...

Dire Straits are just Mark Knopfler and John Illsley, no doubt about it, are the only two left from the band who began in 1977, so with those two I would accept they are Dire Straits, the rest were and will be always hired musicians. I´m sure that Guy Fletcher and Chris White will be part of the team, on drums I guess Danny Cummings has his advantage as he is playing drums with Mark since 2005 and he played before like a percussionist. ¿Guitar and second keyboards? I would like to see Alan...

Hey Markp, as you know I never attented a concert of DS, so I would love to be at a concert that start with 4 persons, watch the middle part and also the end with 9! .......I don't mind, even not if it would take a few days! At least I would have the possibility then to listen to ALL the beautiful songs they produced those years!

This is an interesting point.

When Cream came out (and what a show that was) there was just the 3 of them. Equally Police came out as a 3 piece and were brilliant, yet their last World Tour involved backing singers and extra musicians.

In your dreams (because i don't think it will ever happen) Would you want to see a show with DS as a 4 piece, as they started, or as a 9 piece (or more) as they finished???

Paul Franklin was pretty special i agree - the sound he created on that unique Pedabro -especially during 'You and Your Friend' was pretty fantastic

I can hardly believe that Paul Franklin is mentioned just 3 times . . .
What a great player he is people , and I loved the sound from his
pedal steel guitar for the DS music .

You all want to know my opinion? I wasn't there, so it is hard to choose who need to be part of the band but I choose:
Mark, Guy Fletcher, John Illsley, Chris White, and Danny Cummings.

And if we can dream then the concert will take a few hours and as guest stars I would like to have of...

Just to answer a previous question, DS "legally" in my understanding is MK,JI, GF & AC. I also beleive (but stand corrected) that for the last tour, Ed Bicknell was a member!!!

I am often asked if MK will reform DS. Just suppose that MK decided to do a DS tour - unlikely I know - but, given that there were various incarnations of DS, who would be in the band ? For example, on drums would it be Pick Withers, Terry Williams or Danny Cummings ? Same on guitar, would it be David, Hal, Jack or Phil ?
