He was an exceptional and influential talent. Magnetic and hypnotic on stage.. . . . yet, he gave it up. Society- - - - environment - - - we are all responsible for our own actions. It is true, he was a pitiable figure who needed help. Unfortunately for him, and for the music world, he sought the wrong kind of help, and he ultimately let it destroy him. We have his 70s, and 80s work. What might he have done had he ever found peace with who he really was?

..or did unscrupulous people surround him? He was a lovely little lad at one stage that's all I know.

He was a very talented star as his huge sales show. However, if he had been a very talented plumber there is a great possibility he would have spent the rest of his life in prison. I think he surrounded himself with unscrupulous people.

Either you like him as a person or not, was he probably the best entertainer and performer ever. 750 million albums sold,, Not too bad.

In spite of what Micheal Jackson became, this is very sad news indeed. Terry Wogan said this morning that he will be remembered as a tragic figure, and I have to agree. One of the Gibb brothers also commented that he was a 'victim of society', which in my opinion pretty much sums it all up - Jackson was the ultimate tragic example of the effects of fame, and having become famous before he even had a...

Only link/ref I remember is Mark was asked to play on Bad as the "latest happening white boy guitar player", we know what the answer was.

Thriller was a Killer album, a real ground breaker. I think he was a gentle sensitive soul who was abused supposedly by his Dad and seemingly was unable to come to terms with it. I am saddened by the loss of another genius who gave so much to so many.

Terrible news just breaking. Firstly my thoughts go out to Mr Jackson's family.

I can't think of any link at all between MK and Michael Jackson - is anyone aware of a link??

Professionally, he was a fantastic dancer/showman, and also a great songwriter. (I'm purposely not commenting on anything libelous, and would ask any other posters to do the same).

My thoughts are with him, 50 is no age.
