Yes, "shortly", as TK announced it, can be a very hard time to wait. I wonder if we will get the track list (and track lengths) next weekend! It is
always fun to read the names of the songs that will create the soundtrack of my life probably for the next years... And as I said in another post earlier, MK´s
writing skills have developed very strong the last years, it almost feels like having a new collection of poems from a
writer, and not so much "only" the lyrics of another rock/pop/folk album... Love Expresso

hope for no doubt..

Last time, we had TLWNF as a mp3 on the MKNews site on august 8th. (Well, I made a note about that)- and it was followed by a new mp3 every week. Maybe it will
be same this time. And I remember
I was able to listen to PTM very early, too. Love Expresso |

Right, IIRC, Punish The Monkey was played on some American radio station a while before official album release. That's okay, but putting mp3's on the
website, I don't know. I'm aware of the fact that it has become a common way to promote an album but a part of me would prefer it NOT to be tempted to
listen to any samples in advance at all. We're so spoiled by stuff appearing on the web that I begin to think it would be a nice change to be completely
surprised. Just my thoughts. I'm sure there will be some MK snippets soon. And it will be very hard not to listen to them... Like my favourite TV doctor
once said, "You're like a diabetic in the ice cream parlor. You want to say no but you need that choccolaty goodness!"
"In what twisted universe does mastering Eddie Van Halen's two-handed arpeggio technique count as absolutely nothing?" - House

Well I guess you are right goldenheart. All these samples before the release are spoilers. But you can see them as an advertise for people that don't know there will be a new record. Not everybody is a fanatic fan like us, so it's a good advertise for these people. But for fanatic fans is the new cd spoiled then , because we notice much news about MK that appears on the net. About the surprise matter : when you are listening to this samples you can also be surprised I suppose. It can make you more curious . But people make a mistake when they judge a cd just listening to a few short samples or one song , that's
also one of the problems with snippets before the release .
Just my opinion , Henk |

Of course that is the same schizophrenic manner that overcomes me when the first tour set list is out. My mantra at those weeks is No I won´t have a look no I
won´t have a look no I WON`T have a look, and when
it is online I am there and spoil myself. Same thing happens when a release date is coming closer: I am in an absolute thrilled state of behaviour, and every little note becomes very important. When I like a snippet immediately, I am over the moon, when I don´t like a snippet after the first hearing, I am close to a breakdown (as happened with TLWNF...nearly...). But I have experienced one thing: Even when the surprise is gone before the first listening, every MK album until today really grows in the next few months. And after the first two dozens of listening I still find new stuff and things. And that is worth a little nervous breakdown. Everybody must try and resist. But the next time the tour is coming, I WON`T have a look.... ... Love Expresso |

I guess i'm almost alone with my next opinion :
I like to know the setlist from a concert before it starts . . . .
I was in Brussels with the kick off from the ATR tour with Emmylou and she had some of her own songs to sing. I didn't know them and I hated that. Back home I figured out what songs she did. A week later I saw them again , meanwhile I listened at home to the songs and then I enjoyed them! Earlier this week I was on a exclusive showcase from Simple Minds , it was here in Belgium , it was the first showcase they did from this tour. Off course I didn't know the setlist. Sometimes a song was already several seconds played before I recognized it ! ! ! But that could be my short memory also , and I have to admit that my
wife is the real fan from this band and i'm going with her
to the concerts . But I have to say that there is always a great atmosphere on there gigs ,
cheers , Henk |

I personally always like to hear the lead single before the album comes out, just to get a taster, but I will try to avoid hearing any more songs, with the
exception of Mark playing a solo voice/guitar version of a new song during a radio interview or something. I find that if you hear too many songs from a new
album before it comes out, it just spoils the flow.

I think the release will be very tightly co-ordinated.
TK will be one of the first to know the detail, but I'm sure he will only release when authorised to do so. The days of "White Labels" kicking around are long gone, with the internet. |

Yes, you are probably one of the few who want to know before but in the case of Emmilou and Simple Minds (who had their first showcase in MY town a couple
of weeks ago by the way |

Off topic :
Indeed Nat, they played Evedal, Växjö, Sweden rock festival 30/05. So I was wrong , but they played only two new songs there. After that festival they did rehearsals in Belgium for several days (Buggenhout) and now they started their tour . Thats the reason why the showcase from this week is for me the first from this tour. Sorry for being off topic guys , back to MK stuff now I suppose , cheers Henk

I will try my best yet again to hear nothing, not even snippets before the release.

Well Nigel , I suppose the best thing you can do is cut off your internet access ,
so you can't look on the web and you can't read emails , or go to an deserted island ,

I have those mixed feelings too. One part of me wants the purity of the first listen to the actual cd in my player. The other part wants to listen to some of
those promo releases--early appearances when there are some. Aacchhh! It's confusing. It may depend on what people are talking about. For sure, I want to
hear Get Lucky as soon as possible, but after that, I'll take them as they come and listen or not listen, making the decisions then. Did that confuse you?
It did me.

Well I suppose a snippet can surprise you also , and after that you can enjoy
the whole song , and discover the song better , its good for me that way , |

The cover looks absolutely superb. Mark always seems to choose great artwork, and it all tends to tie in together nicely with the material on the album. I
know I shouldn't wish the summer away but I am becoming impatient to hear this new record!
