What we have been waiting for - Jacki was transferred
earlier today to a rehabilitative hospital that will focus on her respiratory issues; once these have been seen to, she will then go to another center which
specializes in physical therapy for her leg.

Becky's news out of Nebraska continues to be very positive. Jacki is doing well at the current rehabilitation center where she is concentrating on respiratory therapy interspersed with short sessions of physical therapy for her leg. For the first time yesterday since her accident - and with the help of the therapists - Jacki was able to walk across the room using a walker! Jacki is also filling her days with reading and enjoying visits from friends.

This is a really nice way to kick off the US Labor Day weekend. One of Jacki's friends from Nebraska wrote to say that "she sounds and looks wonderful". Her friends who visit with her, and who have seen her during the most difficult times, are thrilled that she is now able to get up on her feet brief periods. The plan is for Jacki to be transferred on Tuesday to a physical therapy center where all efforts will focus on assisting in her learning to walk again.

Hello Emily, I didn't respond to all your messages, because I am already reading almost every day at The Caringbridge site where her friends post news about Jacki's condition. It is great to see that you still keep the friends here informed.
In case others have the same plan, I'll share a secret with all of you. Ingrid and I were not sure if Jacki or one of her friends were able to order the new album of Mark and we all know she would love to have that album also.
We know she will be happy to listen to Mark's voice and all the beautiful songs which will be at the album. So as a surprise for Jacki, I ordered also on behalf of Ingrid the GET LUCKY CD/DVD and as soon as I can collect it from the music store, I will send it to her……….. It might be that she is too busy or tired now with therapy or she doesn't feel well enough to listen or watch at this moment, but she sure will soon enjoy Mark's music again especial the new songs at Get Lucky!
Hey pppsssttt keep it secret for Jacki and let it be a big surprise for her!

First, I am delighted to say that I received a message
from Jacki, asking that I thank everyone on the MK forums for their love and support throughout the past weeks. She also said that once she is situated
someplace other than a treatment facility - perhaps with a friend or in her own home - she is definitely looking forward to listening to the CD's and other
goodies that you sent and, hopefully, getting back to the laptop!

Jacki continues to do really well! Yesterday she was able to spend a little time outdoors. She is working very hard at her daily physical and occupational therapy regimens. The plan is to move her to another facility at some point next week before she is able to live with a friend (or go home).

Today is a big day for Jacki. She is in the process of moving to a different rehab facility where she will live for the next month and continue the physical and occupational therapy program. She will first be evaluated on arrival so that an individual treatment plan will be developed for her.
Later today, Jacki will be interviewed about her accident by television reporters in her local area. These interviews will promote the fact that the police department where Jacki works is holding a pancake breakfast (information below) in her honor to help raise money to defray the cost of her expenses. If you know anyone who lives in or will be traveling to the Omaha, Nebraska area this weekend, please encourage them to attend the event.
