I'll annoy someone yet again, but I have to say this. First, yes I have a lot of recordings. I was and still am under the impression that these were allowed by the band. My great concern is now that all future audio will be banned because of soundboard "hacking" issue. Don't attack me on vocabulary, please. As I read through these threads, I find more and more argument, unfortunately, for a ban--which would break my heart. The excuses and selfishness of "who care what Knopfler and company want, what I want is more important." Never mind all the years of generosity; never mind the consideration by the band of the fans; never mind that reasonable requests by the band have been blatantly ignored. It's just 'me me me." All this business of 'it's easy to get around the restrictions, so why not?" and "I want it, and that justifies my lack of respect for the band " is discouraging to me. Where is the high regard and respect that we owe this band? There are a lot of posters on the forum who do see things from the band's point of view. Wish there were more of them.
Yes, I'll probably edit this post, if TK doesn't delete it before then. And I wouldn't blame him one bit. I'm just tired of the lame justifications.
The band has banned video recordings because of misuse, and now they are about to ban audios. Okay, so someone made a mistake. It was an honest mistake. But the high defiance and "I want what I want" and "who gives a rip about honor" is beginning to turn my stomach. And I realize that when "give anger you get anger" but someone needs to consider the feelings of this band. Period. Without them we wouldn't have ANY recordings.
