Years ago I accompanied my boyfriend, a reporter for an arts newspaper, to a Leon Redbone concert and subsequently an interview afterward. I asked Mr Redbone if he had ever played with other people or played other people's material; he paused in that inscrutable way he has, and slowly answered, "Well, that would be silly, wouldn't it? They'd end up sounding like me!" Not exactly the 'cover' question, but related....I vote with those who say I would rather hear MK play his own less-well-known material, rather than anything of anyone else's, but whatever he plays, I am confident he has examined it from every angle and knows whether or not it will work. And I would enjoy nearly all of it.
