Hello everyone, I hoping you can help me out with something.
My father is a lifelong Dire Strait/Mark Knopfler fan, and has been playing the guitar consistently ever since he was 13 years old (he's 58 years old now). His all-time favourite song must be "Sultans of Swing". While he's enjoyed the two latest albums to some extent, he's disappointed that Knopfler seems to only make more "slow", relaxing music now -- nothing like the good old "Money for Nothing", "Walk of Life" and "Sultans of Swing". As he plays in an old rock band, he likes guitar music that people can dance to. Since he isn't very good with technology/the Internet, I figured I should ask you for some recommendations on his behalf. I mean, there's bound to be *someone* out there with Knopflers kind of style? Other bands/musicians that he like are: Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, the Hollies, the Beatles, the Notting Hillbillies and the Eagles.
Any advise on similar types of guitar-music would be greatly appreciated. He'd *love* some new material. Thank you. :)
