I have a CD and LP of David Knopfler's Release album which is one of my favs.
Just wondering if anyone knows any background as in how MK ended up playing on most of the tracks etc.? |

Mark has played on most of the albums of his former bandmates, such as David, John Illsley, Chris White & Guy.

Some other Dire Straits-members are playing on some DK albums as well. On Wisbones (2001), for example, you can hear Chris White, Phil Palmer

It is worth pointing out though, that none of these were band members with David. They just share the fact they were all members of the Straits with Mark, but
not at the same time as DK.

Of course you're right markp. But it's a small world after all...
I don't want to start the whole MK/DK discussion again, but why is it that the most people on this forum become a bit negative when DK is mentioned? I don't attack somebody, I'm just wondering about that... |

Haha, indeed. Most things I hear about DK are negative. In the beginning I wasn't really a big fan of his music untill I been to a concert in March this
year. Personally, DK has the early DS sound still in his music (altough most of the songs are on acoustic guitars). He played "Bernadette" on a
telecaster during this concert which made the really the oldskool DS sound in my opinion. If you have the chance to see DK playing somewhere, check it out.
Really cool music and you can get an autograph after the show.
 Don't expect a copy of MK, DK and MK are totally different persons with different music, they went both their own way.

I'm not being negative about David, but he left 27 years ago.
This is MK's Official News forum, and it has to focus on Mark. *********************************************************** Having thought about it, and discussed with TK, we will allow this post to continue, but it will be closely monitored. The topic should remain as a discussion only about DK/MK's styles, music etc. This particular kind of topic has led to posts being deleted in the past by the moderators & TK if they are considered to be inappropriate or break the rules.
