I was changing channels Sunday night and came across Brothers and Sisters (I think that's the name of it - with Sally Field and other well-known
actresses - I guess I should really watch it some day). Anyway they played Mark Knopfler's Romeo and Juliet nearly from beginning to end while the various
scenes went on. It wasn't just in the background but they turned it up at times. It was nice!

I really love to catch moments like this--like the time that Walk of Life was played at a special feature during a horse show. Watching horses 'dance'
to Walk of Life! What a delightful moment.

I was in my local Marks and Spencer the other day and 'Lady Writer' was playing in the Per Una department, I had only dashed into the shop for some
food but naturally I had to stay and listen to the whole track.. To whom do I send the bill for the really nice but not really needed top that I bought whilst

Theres a new advert here in Ireland at the moment for Nissan cars,whereby you can get 0% finance for 3 years, so they are calling it "money for
nothing" - is this advert being shown in other countries?
Anyway theres a crap version of MFN playing in the backround- which I still listen to every time

I think you all heard about the terrible tragedy in my country at Queen's Day April 30th. A man drove with his car into a crowd who were waving to our
Queen and her family and he killed 7 people and injured 10 others. The driver wanted to attack our Royal Family, but got badly injured and also died late that
evening before he could explain why he attacked.
Many world leaders and other important people sent our Queen a Telegram and also president Obama from the USA. At the moment they told about this at the news, I heard the song Telegraph Road at the back ground and that was good to hear.

Fieneke, What a really terrible thing to happen to the people of the Netherlands. I feel so sorry for you all, and I'm sure it must have been on the news
in the UK, but I truly didn't hear anything about it until I read your post. Please accept our sympathy for what has happened.

Thank you ladies! It was a shock to watch at TV what happened. I wrote about it at my own forum and added videos also.
This was a special day for me. Not only because we celebrated the birthday of our Queen, but also because Jans and met each other at this day 35 years ago at the birthday of (at that time) Queen Juliana!

Did any of you UK guys see Britains Got Talent over the past few weeks??
There was a guy playing a guitar (illuminated) and singing. He was ridiculed, but went a long way. Nice fella, and had a bit of talent, but not the next MK. He was mocked by the judges, and everytime they featured him, they played MfN. Just another example of how Mark's work is trivialised. |
