The guidelines for sharing bootlegs follow:
For successful trading, these guidelines are recommended.
#1: Sharing/weeding/seeding: If you have something to share, please tell members what you will share, and how many copies you can make and where you are willing to send them. Please be specific about artist, date, tour, venue, and format. Ask requests to come through PM (Private Message). Once your limit of requests has been made, please edit your post to notify members that the offer is now closed. It is helpful, if you wish, to say who will receive your seeding.
#2: ReSeeding/ReWeeding is recommended and expected. Please offer to share your seeded bootleg on this thread. (Standard format is: "Thanks to . . . I can offer copies of . . . to the first . . .who pm me.) If you have any limitations, please express them here.
Sometimes a bootleg has been distributed so freely that no one will take you up on your offer to seed. That is okay. You made the effort. Try to seed something in the future. If no one asks you for copies, at another time you can seed something new, or if the member has not asked for b & p or a trade, then you can seed something new later on. If the member and you agree on b & p or a trade, you are not obligated to reseed. But you may do so.
#3. Requesting: If you are looking for something not currently offered, ask for the material you want to find by artist, date, tour, venue, and format. Although members are generous by nature, it may be helpful to offer a trade or cost of blank discs and postage. If you do and your offer is accepted, please keep your promise. If anyone asks you for additional payment beyond reasonable expenses you should report that person to the admin of this forum. In thecase of b and p or a private trade, you may or may not decide to reseed, depending on the agreement you and the sender have made.
#4: Free Free Free: As with all bootlegs, exchanging is done freely, without cost. Bootlegs are not sold. Asking for postage and blank discs, or equivalent cost, is fair, but rare. Most members simply reseed/reweed or request a trade. If anyone asks for additional payment that you feel is tantamount to selling you the item, then please report that person to the forum admin.
#5: Lossless formats: Most traders expect high quality lossless formats. Mp3 files or files converted from mp3, are not lossless. Lossless compressed files are .flac and the less used shn. But if they have been compressed from .mp3, they are still lossy. Lossless files are as close to cd quality as possible: .wav and .cda are examples. Most burners will provide these formats for you. Burn at low speeds. Take time to make a quality recording. Technical help is available on the web and from some members. See the techie section.
#6: Promptness. Please answer requests quickly and send out promised discs quickly. Please let the sender know that his/her discs have arrived.
#7: Privacy. For your protection, PM or share email addresses by PM. Never publish your personal contact information on this thread.
